GPL#1 IS HERE! Match 3 Recap
Match #3 saw the high-flying Wranglers looking to lasso the winless Hostiles and really put a break on the pack at the top of the table.
Chief Wrangler, Ravi won the toss and was keen to corner the Hostile bowlers with an aggressive approach with the bat. But it was Lachie Hogan who was most Hostile securing the early wicket of his mentor, Dan Fisher for a blob. The pressure was not released on the 2nd over where Abigail Sims picked up the prize wicket of Ravi in her first delivery to nudge the Hostiles well on top. Draft first pick, Josh Robinson, showed why his was so highly rated by clobbering 2 huge sixes over square leg but his stay was all too brief. At 56 for 6 there was a real threat of the Cowboys from Western Heights being bowled out inside the 16 overs until young Ben Coleman and Nathan Greenwood came together to put on a valuable 25 runs to give the score some respectability. Scott McEwan and Dane Sorenson quickly put any hopes the Wranglers had to bed with a measured aggressive opening stand of 76 and the result was all too inevitable. Scott’s stand and deliver style coupled with Dane’s finesse and busy running, provided to be an ideal combination to grind down the previously unbeaten Wranglers. Ranithu and Charli provided some discomfort for the batters, but the score was achieved in the 12th over to confirm a health run rate as the Series rolls in Match #4.
Halfway through Series#1 and all 3 teams now have a 1 win, 1 loss record so will be separated by run rate. Match #4 has the wounded Wranglers up against the Casanovas who will have some newly found confidence after their close win over the Hostiles in Match #2.
