I Love Cricket!

17 Aug

Rotorua cricketer Cameron Ingram (Geyser CC) is playing in the UK summer and soaking up all the traditions that the English bring to the game. Cam (21) is playing for Ormskirk Club which is just a short half hour drive north on the A59 from Liverpool. It was an emotional 21st when his proud dad, Paul, presented him with a ticket to the UK for his trip of a lifetime. His family has ridden the highs and lows of Cam’s cricketing career and you can’t help but be happy for them as we follow his progress with pride. He does bat at the business end of the order with 500+ runs at 28 which includes 4 x 50’s and a high score of 75*. But it is his wicket keeping that will be impressing most. His silky hand work finds him currently on the top of keeping dismissals stats for the Club.

The ex-Western Heights student will return to Rotorua this summer and will be of huge benefit to our local game. He will come into our season after 40+ games in the UK and share their experiences and skills. But I also suspect he will be looking ahead and wanting more, and why not whilst you can. Cam is no doubt in the middle of creating lifelong memories and friendships which this great game can create.
