General Information about Lakelands Junior Cricket / The Roles

“Lakelands” junior and youth cricket is a collaboration between Rotorua Cricket Association, Taupo Cricket Association and EBOP Cricket (SWCA players have also been included in Lakelands teams to).  Lakelands fixtures occur generally on Sundays throughout the season at a Year 7/8, u/16 and u/19 level, with a 5-day tournament for the u/16 and u/19 teams in December.  These teams provide an elevated opportunity for young cricketers to be part of quality squad, receive targeted coaching opportunities, and compete in matches with similar cricketers from other parts of Northern Districts.

The Lakelands Junior Committee is calling for expressions of interest for coaching and management roles for each of the three teams and aim to appoint people in alignment with the selection policy attached.  Coaches and managers would be expected to be available for most fixtures, the tournament (if applicable),  and coaches for the trainings.

Year 7/8 Lakelands

  • Plays in the WBOP-run ‘Sunday League’ competition.
  • Sunday fixtures throughout the season in/around the BOP.
  • Approximately 4-5 matches pre- and post-Christmas.
  • Bi-weekly trainings

U/16 Lakelands and u/19 Lakelands

  • Two teams (u/16 and u/19), therefore two coaching roles and two management roles are available.
  • Play in various fixtures around the southern parts of the ND region.
  • 5-day tournament 11-15 December in Hamilton for the u/16 team
  • 5-day tournament 4-11 December in Gisborne for the u/19 team
  • 2-3 fixtures post-Christmas

All coaches / managers that are appointed will be required to undergo policy vetting, comply with relevant NZC/ND policies around child welfare and safety,  and agree to the attached policy and other relevant cricket policies.   If you have any questions, please direct them to me in the first instance.
