Week In Review: 4/12/23

A gritty effort by all of our teams on Saturday, especially by our Craigs Investment Partners Geyser 'Ressies' getting an exciting win over LTCC 2nd XI by just 2 runs!

The Craigs Investment Partners Geyser Defenders were well hosted by the EBOP Cricket Club Scorchers at Rex Morpeth Park in Whakatane on Saturday morning. After winning the toss, Geyser put the Scorchers in to bat and they got off to a flyer scoring at 10 runs per over for the first 10 overs. A more accurate and determined bowling and fielding effort over the next 15 overs slowed the run rate and the Scorchers innings ended on 187/5 off their 25 overs.

The Defenders reply was spirited and made for some very entertaining cricket. The Defenders also got off to a rollicking start scoring at 10's for the first 10 overs. Ultimately, 187 proved a few too many and the defenders ended up 32 runs shy.

Geyser can be rightly proud of the effort put in and the spirit of cricket on show. It was a pleasure to watch. - Steve Coleman
